Leaf Wireless is expanding its business to acomodate the sales of i-mate smartphones

Now...

Some users have been known to wait for anything between three weeks and three months to have their phones repaired and there have been times where Leaf’s offices have been crowded with frustrated users trying to get their i-mates’ fixed.

or the reliability.... :D
 
My i-mate has been 100% fine since it was replaced. Certain JAM's have the problem of the front speaker working intermittently but touch wood (*MaD touches wood*) it has been fixed in models after the faulty batch.

Good phones, and we will probably hear in another few months that Leaf had to expand again.. the more affordable these phones get the more people will see the benefits of the complete ease of use of these phones.

If you use Windows on your PC you may as well get a Windows phone, they are very much similar in functionality.
 
i-mate's can be set to retrieve email automatically, thus functioning the same way as a blackberry. There is also software for MS Exchange 2003 which pushes email to windows mobile devices. Then you only pay for the download.

And the flat monthly rate for email. :) I use BB Messenger between devices cos its free but I still wish they'd roll out inclusive IM packages for google talk and yahoo.

What sort of data use does the average i-mate user get through? More or less than the blackberry charge of r150 pm?

Good point! Flat rate for any amount of email that you receive and send. And receiving and sending email is exactly the same as SMS. I can just see myself frustated with Windows on a very small device.
 
R150 pm on vodacom would be 75 megs of email (R2 per meg with no data package), which is a fair amount for a cellphone... I doubt smartphone users get close to that...
 
I think a smartphone have to download ALL email. It will also have to download the WHOLE email message. Not like a BB that prefetch just some of the message and reformats it to the BB before sending it.

BB is by design a push tech. The BB devices are designed for email.
 
You can specify wether to download just the headers, the headers and a section of the mail (you specify KB to download from body) or download the entire thing.

The SMS/MMS/e-mail functionality all looks exactly the same.. well it's outlook basically, that can compose/send/receive MMS and SMS messages.
 
“MTN does not stock i-mates but does back to back orders. This means that when a MTN user wants an i-mate, MTN has to then order it from us and get it to them,” he says. Vodacom and Cell C are holding stock which makes it easier for their customers who want i-mate phones.

Bloody useless. I am looking for an iMate, best deal avaialble, and am happy to switch providers to get one. So long MTN.

You could try calling a few different MTN stores, some do have stock.
 
i've got a k-jam, best choice i've ever made, phone, email, internet, excel, word....etc inb my pocket.....stuffing excellent
