Now the cellular companies will have to revise their user stats because just saying 10 million o82/3/4/whatever numbers out there cannot be taken as usage anymore. 082 can now be MTN and 083 for instancer can be CellC for all we know...

I'm tired of MTN's crap customer service and high call rates.

Come second half of this year at CellC will be carrying my calls.
 
How much do you think the vendors will charge for moving your number to a competing network.

Also if they can have number portability on mobiles then there is no reason they can't have it when the SNO comes in for fixed lines.

Unfortunately landline numbers are not part of MNP. :(

Definately a lost opportunity.
 
Is that a icasa second half this year or a for real second half this year :(
 
I believe there is a fine for them not having it in place after june/july BUT i wonder if it is a deterent fine or something small that providers will just rather pay. Also what happens now to sim numbers ? I mean each time the provider had to get more numbers but with subscribers moving as they feel will they have to scrap this totally and just provide blocks of random 'free'/unused numbers?

what happens to all the least cost routing equipment, it wont be able to route the the cheapest network according the number prefix, hopefully we wont need LCR cos prices will fall due to real competition that we've been lacking for a very long time

As I understand the cell networks will be forced to keep a centralised database so it'll probably still be possible to implement LCR.
