Samsung P2450 flickers / shivers on 1920 x 1080

Hi

Hope someone can help. Recently after a motherboard and screen card crash (New motherboard and screencard installed) I got my PC back from the shop and after I started it up, I set it back to 1920x1080 and the whole screen shivers very slightly, very fast and very annoying. There is no way one can work like that.

I've tried istalling the latest nVidia drivers for the GT520 as well as the drivers for the P2450. As far as I can tell I have the latest drivers.

I've also checked the refresh rate which has only one setting : 60

Anyone have any ideas ?

I would suggest that you first test the screen with a working PC that doesn't have any issues.
 
There are a number of things that can cause this.

First tell us, are you using an HDMI cable or a DVI/D-sub? Is there a UPS protecting the screen input power?

Have you tried using a DVI to HDMI plug/cable like this

? These usually sell for about R80 at Matrix Warehouse.

How old is the screen. Is it still in warrenty?

I have seen this twice before. Do you know why your motherboard an screen card broke. chances are that your power supply might be damaged, causing the interference and the original cause for the broken motherboard and screen card.

second more common cause is that the analog blue D-Sub connectors and interfaces on newer graphics cards and screens are not very good quality. Best to use DVI or HDMI to connect your screen.

Hi and thanks for all the input.

-I currently use a DVI cable, same as before
-Yes, the screen is protected by ups, also same as before
-I have tried a straight HDMI cable, but made no difference
-The screen is not under warranty anymore
-When I press the "Auto" button, a message flashes on the screen : "Not Available"
-I have no idea why the motherboard and screen card crashed. The PC shop just said "It happens sometimes".
-The PC shop is a bit reluctant towards any further help in this regard. They sent someone out to have a look, but the guy gave one look and said "Install the correct driver so that you have more refresh rate options" and promptly left. As far as I'm concerned I have the correct driver....I don't have the CD anymore, but "Driver Detective" does not find any fault. If I book the desktop in at the PC shop, it will have to stay there for about 2 to 3 days (I've already had the issue since Monday). So I rather work with a lower screen resolution than loose 2 days work....

The 'auto' button is just for VGA connections.

Your motherboard and CPU most likely went due to a bad PSU. This is the case in 99% of the situations in any case.

You really don't need a driver for the screen in Windows 7, unless you're doing graphics designing where you need colour profiles and things like that perhaps.

I would still suggest that you try the screen with another PC, and if it is working correctly then, that you test your PC with another PSU.

Yep, either screen or power supply.

That and the guy from the shop has no clue. I would not deal with them again.

my money is on PC power supply or screen power supply.
