i have been using the 2 +1 promo, and what started out to be fantastic is now a white elephant, i dropped from speeds of 3mbps to edge, and the signal has been bad for the whole week, i wont lie, service delivery in 8ta sucks and theres nothing i can do about it! :mad:

the huawei modem will connect for like 5 minutes at very slow speed, and then disconnect totally for the whole day, i wish there was some active omburdsman when it comes to this nonsense really!
 
400 - 500K constant in a building that cant get more than 100K on all the other networks!!!
 
i have just discovered that im in the mtn roaming zone, my connection says mtnsa2, obviosly mtn will give their own customers preferential treatment, although i doubt theres many at their pricing, but that answers all my questions! it explains it all, one day fast, next day dead slow... mtn... hello the future!

i wonder when 8ta wil eventually have a tower in the nigel area... soon i hope
 
Beleive me when i say.... YES YOU CAN! if im not roaming on mtn, then that takes me back to square 1, then 8ta themselves are screwing me!...

on the contract one i know for a fact you cant roam, but you've just made me think of something interesting hey, the dashboard reads mtn on the connectivity

Actually they do. I was in Nigel /Viljoenskroon this morning.
Tower 2075x, located in Hendrik Vervoerd, between 3 & 4th Avenue. I have been using it as a backup option for a client of mine in Viljoenskroon.
This morning I download the 8ta-connect.zip (13 MB) in under a minute, that's about 221 kb/s. That was with a -91dBm signal strength.
 
in the store it says my area is pink(sounds weird) which means im in the 8ta area, but like i pm'ed you, when using 8ta's dash, lots of problems and slow speed, when using mdma its stable, not the greatest speed but stable

You're confusing me. Why would it differ. Can't you select WCDMA on the dashboard a.k.a 3G only on MDMA?

Afaik you can't roam on the MTN network. Take a screenshot with MDMA or the dashboard.

i find this odd as im in duduza just next to nigel, and my speed will vary from 3megabits per second all the way down to 128 kilobytes per second, but on the coverage map im indicated as covered, but i think you're right, i might be in an 8ta zone but with low low coverage, must find a way to boost signal on a huawei dongle i suppose!
 
Other options for you would be Telkom in Geluksdal (2318x) or in Tsakane street - 2293x

im in tsakane extension 19... i was trying to upload some pics, the total amount is 400 kilobytes and after twenty minutes im totally frustrated, it used to do it in seconds, something is wrong and its frustrating me badly now

i took a screenshot of the 8ta dash and the mdma, problem is the pics are battling to upload, they are less than 500kilobytes combined, i noticed that where i used to get a full signal, ow i dont even get one bar, i wont lie, im suspecting foul play on 8ta's part really! heres the first http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/543/mdma.jpg/ and http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/46/dere.jpg/

Noob question: and trust me i aint a noob, but how do you select towers on mdma, i simply selected the option that says 3g only, is there a way of customizing tower selection? T-MAN im definetily sure theres a tower near me that gives me full signal because last week this modem was receiving full signal with high speed, then bam! by the way, guys, thank you so much for assistance, im appreciating it, frustrated but appreciate it
 
You can't use MDMA to lock onto a tower, or anything else for that matter. A directional antenna may help.

I see in the MDMA image your APN is set to My MTN. Mine is set to "internet".
 
i downloaded a new mdma version, now reads "internet" nevertheless, same problems!
