My son is renting in PE and the premises has the prepaid electricity meter, and he has a plastic card that's used to buy vouchers at a limited number of places.

Is there any option available to buy electricity vouchers online, or by phone ?

I've searched, but these convenient options don't seem to be available in PE.

FNB offers such a facility if i'm not mistaken. That's if you're with FNB.

I use prepaid in PE and there are none. I have asked one of the online sellers but the problem seems to be with the PE municipality and there systems.

Thanks - gave it a try and got the below error message:
Processing Error: Please check Transaction History/Prepaid History before trying again

Looks like they're backward in a good few areas.

I tried FNB, but I guess the reason why that failed is as you say, the municipality hasn't implemented any of these convenient measures.

Lack of places selling? There are quite a few places, most spars and engine stations have prepaid electricity, spar is easiest when you get your groceries!

Online Prepaid Electricity available for the Nelson Mandela Bay Area "Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas"

Clearly not an official site, but it could be someone with a garage who is batch processing purchases online seeming as they only do it at certain times of the day! Will also have zero recourse if things go south!

Thread resurrection:

Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has finally partnered with a company to bring us online prepaid purchases. I have registered and used it twice - very efficient and immediate responses on both occasions. Cost is R4,50 per transaction, which is peanuts.

Register here: https://www.wireit.co.za/ - all relevant information is there.

I registered via email and made my first purchase 5 minutes later. Token was SMS'd to me within a minute.

At last.
