Did you get an invite to the launch after all? I wonder what the pricing on packages will be, hope it is better that the N9, otherwise I'll have to wait for the 710...

Here's the latest:
Lumia 800 will be launched on the 7th Feb. Will be available exclusively to Vodacom Direct (for a while).
So initially will only be available on Vodacom and only through Vodacom Direct.
That's from Nokia.
Incidently, the Lumia 710 is going to be launched on the 1st Feb in the UK, so probably available on Amazon.co.uk and ebay.co.uk from beginning of Feb.

Guys check out my post on mydl. I wrote this specifically to give Windows Phone a bit more exposure. Please comment on it as I of course didnt cover everything that windows phone is and hopefully we can get more people will see WP and decide for themselves rather than let the media and sales people decide....

I received this from MTN:
“MTN is still undertaking test and validation of the Windows devices with view of completing the process soon . MTN naturally remains committed to re-enforcing our smart device portfolio with the introduction of the Windows operating system. MTN will provide further details in due time.”

All good and exciting stuff. Looks like the name Nokia is making the service providers wanna jump on board but I also want to see the salespeople in the shops attitudes.
@ivanr thanks

I will be getting a Lumia 800 and I feel it can be successful.
One thing worries me is salespeople attitude to anything Microsoft. How many times I meet a salesperson who doesn't know what Windows Phone is or gets it mixed up with the old Windows Mobile and then say its rubbish don't buy it.
What will Nokia do to change their attitudes?
I hope NokiaRSA is reading this :P
RougeCode, How is this deal working? Is it only at the Dome in JHB? or is thing going to be else where?

I got the Nokia Lumia 800, all round its a very nice phone, but I have two gripes with it. Firstly, battery dies too quickly even with the new patch Nokia sent out. Camera quality is fairly poor in indoor and poor lit areas. Nokia said it would be releasing a patch for that, but still waiting.

I have one and impressed with it, even found a "Adobe Reader" for free on marketplace, the Nokia maps and Drive are fantastic. Yes I know the battery story but if you use the download/browsing all day it is expected not to last a full day.
Great phone and better than my Win Mobile 6.5 Pro.
