Question - im looking into getting internet at home. Is there any better offers out there than the 8ta internet 5 promo? Also how is the quality and the speed?
 
What about the 60GB + 60GB prepaid offer for once off R1800 valid for 365 days? No billing or OOB issues.

Quality and speed is area/location dependent, get a 8-ta data sim, load a small bundle and test first.

Personally I get 75ms pings and 2mb d/loads, for my needs its fine.
 
2mbs is also good enough for me, well according to their website (if you check the coverage zone) im almost exactly in the middle. I stay in nigel though so im not sure if that's going to make a difference (maybe the signal quality is better in hotspots like johburg/pretoria). The once off bundle is a bit rough, that's why im looking at this special

It is between this and the 60GB + 60GB offer. I suppose the big factor is how active you are between midnight and five. If, like me, you're generally asleep at that time the +60GB doesn't mean much (unless you do a ton of big downloads and schedule them for the evenings).
 
Test it first with a sim card, convert it to a data sim (no roaming), and test it. This will potentially save you a lot of hassle, especially if you want to lock into a 24 mnth contract, and discover poor network speeds.

P.s I get 2mb on a 3.6 capable modem, mayb more if the device was enable for 21mb/s transfers.

So i should get an 8ta simcard (how much would that cost about?)(also how do you convert it to data sim?) and put in any usb internet dongle and then see what speeds i can get?

CNA cost 0.49c. When you activate the sim card, a SMS will be sent to you reflecting your fone number.
Dial 183 (I think) and request the guy to convert your sim to a data-sim. Took me 5minutes in all.
Purchase some airtime, R40 gets you 100mb. Then test away.

Edit.

Yeah, create a new connection, with INTERNET apn, load usb dongle.

I have the 10gb pm promo and the 60+60 promo. Got the 10gb in a B683 router and the other on my phone... Im in Northriding and the 8ta sims give me the best reception and speeds... I download HIMYM episodes between 4 to 6mins compared to 2hrs using cellc... But seriously it depends on your location. So test it out on a prepaid sim. BTW 8ta in clearwater gives you the sims for free. Thats how I tried their connection first.

Lastly,if all works out well. What modem do you recommend i go for?? Looking for best value to performance ratio modem
 
I have the 8ta 10gb promo and have had little problems with it. I am in CT and I hardly ever get speeds below 1 mbps and usually between 2 and 5 mbps.

I have the DNG2200M Telkom 300mbps router with 3G fallback, together with the 21mbps Huawei E367 dongle.
 
How do you check your balance on this when using a tablet?Do you have to remove sim and put it in a phone then dial *188#? Or is there some sort of web portal?

Also, what happens when your 10gb is up? Oob? Or does it just stop?

I have not yet used up my 10gb, so could not tell you what happens. Out of bundlefor 8ta is quite expensive, so I would be careful!
