Google is providing free websites to South African entreperneurs. Wozaonline provides free everything. Does this have a damaging effect on the South African internet web developer/hosting industry? How big is this news to small business (if it's news at all)? I don't know what to make of it yet, hence looking for some opinions.

I haven't checked what the service is like, but it's probably going to be a good thing. It really depends how it's managed.

It will get smaller SME's on internet, where they will discover the services limitations and probably lead them to move into a properly developed website as a result.

The fact that it's goverment linked might actually put people off, the fact that it's google might get people on. The success of it in Kenya is pretty encouraging tho (for them at least).
