Hi all,

My dad is looking to get his own e-mail address. He already registered a .co.za mail account and because he is very into the MS Outlook thing, wants to get hosted exchange.

He used iOnline up till now but isn't too happy with them - mostly because they change their anti-spam and anti-virus systems every couple of months and then it blocks most of his incoming mail.

I had a look at http://www.syncmymail.co.za and they look good, but I don't know them at all. Anybody used them?

Office365 from MS looks amazing, but it isn't available in SA... :(

Local or international doesn't matter. Oh, and PLEASE let it be a bigger than 2 GB mailbox!

Hi

Why don't you use an ISP?

I use Google apps - but he specifically wants full MS exchange support. Google only uses Active Sync for mobile syncing - the rest is IMAP/POP3 only. He doesn't want to use webmail (I tried convincing him otherwise). Also, the Google Calendar sync with Outlook is not great and as far as I know don't do contact sync.

If by ISP you mean somebody that gives you hosted Microsoft Exchange with a big mailbox (10 GB and up and not IMAP or POP3) and allows you to use it without ADSL/3G and allows you to use your own domain name for life - then yes, I an looking for an ISP and I'm asking who provides the best services I mentioned.

I use http://www.intermedia.co.uk/. They charge per user and excellent service.

Also never heard of http://www.syncmymail.co.za/ but their pricing looks good. Has anyone had some experience with them? I think there's a gap in the market for personal hosted exchange. More and more people want cloud syncing of all data.

Been using www.databias.co.za for almost 3 months now. Very good service and no problems. Went for them for a number of reasons.

Silly question perhaps, but why does he need to connect to Exchange?

I second the recommendations for Google Apps. I'm a happy user. He can still use it with Outlook if he really wants :)

ebendl who did you choose? Interested to here what you think of syncmymail if you went with them!
Have a smb customer who insists they need public folders

Read this article (http://www.itweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51148:syncmymail-offers-two-months-of-free-hosted-exchange-2010&catid=392) on them just now 2 free months is quite tempting

Hi,

I have now been using Exchange 2010 (http://www.syncmymail.co.za/hosted-exchange/overview) for over 3 years now. Their pricing and service is impeccable. Got my ActiveSync for iPhone and iPad, and 25GB storage for R89 a month, with personal support.

Anyone looking for Hosted Exchange, I recommend to contact them, and I noticed they now got a 2 months free promotion. Check: http://www.syncmymail.co.za/promotion
