Let the operators moan and cry sympathy. They've never bothered listening to us consumers to drop their pricing. Hope ICASA steamrolls this one and doesn't hit the brakes. Please ICASA!
 
If Telkom and the mobile cartel are moaning it means ICASA is finally orientating itself towards the consumer - the little guys they're supposed to be looking after!
 
Just one problem here. What's to stop them from increasing calling costs if they have to decrease receiving costs?

Doesn't ICASA have to approve any increases in call costs?

Not sure if it's only a few cents. Still iSUCKa's so asleep most o' the time, it wouldn't know what it's signing. They can easily convince them to allow an increase (like Telkom in past(with 4BN+ profit made))
 
These telecos companies have to realise that the days of generating billions of rands worth of profit on the back of outdated technologies is over.
They might just have to work now and run efficient, competitive and productive companies to survive in the future,,,,, the horror :eek:
Only the really competitive and innovative will survive.

The truth of the matter is probably that if the market in SA was opened up to REAL competition, not one of the current operators would more than likely survive the first few years.
