Schabir Shaik wants his presidential pardon – and his R2 million loan back from President Jacob Zuma – the man whom, according to a court finding, he bribed.

It is more than three years since Shaik applied for his presidential pardon. He is no closer now to finding out if he will get his much-sought-after freedom and nor has he heard from Zuma, a former close friend.

Offered a plea bargain by the state before he went on trial, Shaik said he chose to remain silent for fear of being assassinated and because of his loyalty to his “comrades”.

Shaik last week said he felt used.

He is still alive it seems and wants his money!!!

Reading the article it is clear that if you were in "the struggle" you don't throw your comrades under the bus even when you/they are involved in criminal activities.

The chickens are coming home to roost now :D Pity Zuma *IS* already president and does what he pleases anyway.

The pure arrogance of this F-er..! I hope this whole affair blow up in their faces...!

A few "comrades" have refused to talk about other "comrades" when they are on the stand, does this not mean the defeating the ends of justice?

Pay the man back, he needs it as he will easily make it to 80 living the relaxed lifestyle he is.

cant anyone see the veiled blackmail attempt by Shabir ? ... "Pay me 2 Million + Presidential Pardon and I wont tell the media any more" is how I interpret it.

That is what I read too but the funny thing is that Jacob said the same thing when he had a court case pending against him. He knew things and would spill the beans if found guilty or something to that effect. I am not sure which court case it was though.

jz aways has the option of shutting shaik up & chucking him right back into prison - clearly the man is no closer to death

of course shaik can wait it out, jz wont be president for ever - then spill all the beans - everything

Shaik denies threats

Schabir Shaik has distanced himself from an article in a Sunday newspaper in which he was quoted as saying that he wants President Jacob Zuma to repay a R2-million loan, and that he turned down a plea bargain with the state because he feared assassination.

"I was [Zuma's] economic adviser and then his financial adviser. I could have said so much about so many people and brought so many people down. But I kept quiet, thinking that they would do the right thing. Three years have gone by. This is another ploy. If [Zuma's] conscience was clear, the day he became president he should have ordered this probe into the arms deal. I have been let down, used and thrown away."

Defeating the ends of justice? Why do other criminals give up their accomplices but he is immune?

If JZ cannot pay water, lights on one of his properties how's he going to pay 2bar back??

And even if he could afford it, he wouldn't because they all the same and "soort soek soort" - start telling the truth and be honest from day 1 and you wouldn't be in the situation you are in because you wouldn't have met JZ in the first place if you were honest and truthful.

Awww is Shaik suffering now that he can't get any guavamint tenders since he's officially "dirty" now?

My only response to him is "Cry me a river you piece of scum, you should be in jail where your hyper tension can flair up again, and you can't play golf.. fscker".

Shaik was just using the media to get JZ quivering in his boots!

He will get his pardon when he snuffs it, then to make things even better, they will name a street after him in KZN or wherever he lives.
