MIUI for the Samsung Galaxy SII

Is anyone running any MIUI rom? I'm tempted to install but I'd like detailed instructions. Do I need to do the usual wipe factory bla bla bla and then just install the rom with CWM or are there other things I need to do before I install as well? Also, on the MIUI site, they say the unofficial roms are not supported by them. Can anyone confirm that? They say they update their official roms every Friday.

Friend of mine flashed MIUI on his SGS2 a couple of months ago, after me constantly badgering him about how awesome it is on my SGS1. So he went ahead and did it... The process was VERY similar to flashing the SGS1, almost to the point of being indistinguishable. I'm now on pure ICS though and wouldn't want to go back to MIUI. As polished as MIUI is, ICS is just so much better... The full hardware acceleration just makes it feel so smooth. Die-hard iPhone fans also commented on how much quicker it feels than iOS. I've compared the two (I own an iPhone 4 and SGS1) and ICS really does feel smoother and, dare I say it, more polished than iOS5.

Default MIUI is in Mandarin and other developers like the Galnet or MIUI.us started by translating it into American/UK English, it has now gone so far that the groups even add there own applications or kernels. Overall the default look is the same, this can be changed by the millions of themes found all over the net.

Yes the ROM is Rooted, or we shall rather say they are not locked down as only OEM's normally lock there OS's and not the developers.

Those are not the only MIUI groups, there is many more like http://www.miui-au.com/ and http://miuiandroid.com/ but for Samsung Galaxy phones Galnet is the best as they started as a group focusing on Samsung Galaxy phones hence the name "Gal"-net
