I'm getting a second hand ipad 2 tomorrow.

I have a US itunes account.
Do I need to factory reset the device to connect to my pc as it's second hand?
Not sure what version of Ios it's using, so I'll need to update, I assume this is done once iPad is "cleaned"
Once it's updated to latest Ios 5 and cleaned and associated with my itunes account.

Can I then jailbreak?

You know you could just as easily have carried on the same thread.

1) You dont need to factory reset. Let iTunes figure it out. It will wipe and restore for you - transfer the content over first if you want to keep anything though.
2) Make VERY SURE you update to 5.0.1. If it tries to do a 5.1 on you, you've had it with jailbreaking.
3) You can jailbreak as soon as you connect it. No need to wait for anything.

Is this the one off BoB?

Gumtree.
Spoke to the guy.
Had him email pics
Had him email copy of his ID.
So took the chance and got it plus postage for R2900.
It's now at a branch in East London post office somewhere.
Still has to come to King Williams Town.

Nice man!! Enjoy it!! I was having a look at the one on BoB, was going to buy then it closed/was sold....

What cover should I get, don't want anything bulky or that will add weight to the device, also don't need it to stand?

iPad stuck in transit between East London and King William Town, post office is useless.

Hopefully comes this afternoon !

You get these thin rubber or plastic back covers, get one, preferably one compatible with the smart cover I would say. The main problem with an uncovered iPad is that it's quite slippery, if you put t down on a couch, it can just slide off, so one of these is pretty essential.

Yay it has arrived at post office :)
My new toy..............

Placed all my magazines into Calibre and converted to ePub, synced to iPad and into iBooks, they all show up there, but when I open any magazine it doesnt use up all the screen real estate but leaves open margins on either side.
So the print is small to read?

Is it full screen in portrait mode?

Unfortunately that's the way magazines render on the pad. Full screen in portrait mode but not in landscape mode.
