Hi

Who of you guys use IS accounts and play games online (local & international)?

Would any of you mind pasting some pings to local game servers (or sites even) and some international ones?

Just trying to get an idea of what the latency is like as I have been told by an ISP that the IS accounts are not suitable for gaming, but for browsing rather.

Thanks!

Forget about playing games on international servers. IS uses satellite links for international connectivity, with average pings over 600ms.

I think it depends on what your playing. I have an IS account and play World of Warcraft US version. Probably average about 800ms, but ranges from 600ms to 2000ms. Game most of the time is very easily playable and when it's not it's mostly because of server lag.

in my experiance IS local has been the same as SAIX ;)
Can you please paste a ping to games.saix.net from your IS account?

ping on IS account to saix

local is exactly the same as an saix account since satellites are not used. that 30gig local comes in handy for gaming and newsgroups once international is capped ;)

hi, i know nothing about pings but i have an IS account and play on-line games every day. Realms and Flyff both overseas games with not much problem at all. sometimes there is a bit of a lag but then it's with the site.
my son and i play on the same line on different computers no problem. just today though the line keeps dropping, not sure if it's telkom or the game site.

Internation is a bit of an issue cos of the satalite...
Would love to test the IS Fibre connection.

Local has always been ok for me.

you can alway consider using one of nukecap's proxy services on IS... when i still played wow it made a huge difference..

I'm with Storm and in Durban ?

I've got a SAIX account and I average about 30-40ms on the SGS CoD2 servers if that gives you guys some sort of comparison. Internationally...my I can join CoD2 servers but my ping goes from 500ms upwards.
