Microsoft Windows division “a mess”

It had to happen sometime

Not to mention the hundreds of differing versions to support, having to upgrade to get this or cross grade for that, etc... Farting around with making money eventually distracts you from your core serivce / product. Save money MS! Go back to one version of Windows on the desktop... and RECODE! I find it hard to imagine, but it seems MS have learned alot from our local Telecoms guys... 500 packages, with a million "special deals" out there... a free sms every time you... extra minutes if you spend x per month...

Actually one size does fit all when the price is right... and you don't have to run around like a blue fly to keep the customers happy!

Also, quit trying your best to destroy any extra speed delivered by the hardware vendors.

Media center was a nice idea, but was an obvious attempt to tie us down to MS goods again as usual.

The entire article is utterl bull**** ... the people who made that 60% recode claim within 2 months have no idea about software development.

Thats absolutely true. Whoever thinks they can re-write an Operating System in 2 Months no matter how many developers you have or how many billions you have in the bank account... ITS JUST HUMNALY IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

Technically it's not 60% in 2 months. "2007" will probably be mid year, which give them 15 months to get it right.

Erm ... this is just a cheap trick to hide the fact that DotNet is so woefully documented you cannot actually build anything without refering to external non MS authours.

The Windows division has always been a mess. Bad project management and change control is one of the fundamental reasons why Windows has always sucked in certain fundamental ways. It is rather sad because there is a lot going for it. Linux on the other hand still has a long way to go before being ready to be used as a general user OS. Now if we could combine the merits of each we'd have a truly great system.

Just once Microsoft should spend time on the core system and forget the flashy rubbish that invariably makes the system a mess. They should actually rethink and redesign the entire system, like Apple did with OSX (OK they retained idiocies like the default one button mouse - at least the OS supports more though).
