Tunisia is the highest ranked African country - at position 36 - just one place above South Africa.

Ok but Tunisia was just ahead of SA last year as well [if memory serves], which would mean that Tunisia has dropped as well this year...what IT work is being done in Tunisia & what are the contract rates like?

The US is followed by Singapore, Denmark, Iceland and Finland, confirming the ICT dominance of Asia and the Nordic countries, the report said.

:confused: the UK isn't even in the top 5...? and isn't the UK in a better position considering their better [than the USA's] broadband penetration rate...?

not like the gov is doing anything to make the situation better. The prob don't even know what this list means...If anyone is interested and read the summary provided by WEF. They mention something about how Taiwan got itself out of poverty without itself having large amounts of natural resources.

I think SA fared remarkably well considering Telkom's thumb (or is it boot :)) constantly squishing down on this economy.
 
One can only wonder just how high SA's rating would be if our telecoms sector was on par with the best in the world. After all, a truly vibrant telecoms sector is among the most important foundations of a thriving IT environment.

This country has so much potential.

Lol, africa has nothing on europe... Even the worst of europe is waaaay better than the best of africa. Except maybe sightseeing destinations, and as the above quote says, internet usage (only slightly). Uh ooh, i feel an argument approaching :)
