Devices that mean Skype can escape from the PC

Has anyone managed to install Skype on Windows Mobile 5.0 devices yet?
Whenever I try, it fails to install.
 
I think there's still a lot of ground for skype to cover before they become serious competition to someone like Telkom. Perhaps we can contact them and ask them to use our country as an experiment. I have no doubt that a lot of the country would drop Telkom in a heartbeat if Skype could offer excellent service :D

Perhaps they can be our TNO :p

They are already...
:D

And in many cases the FNO. My calls to our other office are 50/50 Telkom / Skype already.
 
Hi,

To date, the best skype phone / device i have seen is the Skype Dualphone (VoIP)

and these sexy MAC compatible usb devices Ipevo give them a call, i think they also have a USB camera on flexible arm that can be used with skype thats really good, but i can't find it on EvenFlow site...

I will contact them and find out more.

Theyre not worried because they control the medium that skype uses
 
My Olympia (branded) Cordless DualPhone works great, the older firmaware & software versions were hella unstable tho, although the new updates are hassle free. Voice quality very good aswell

Lets see ... my handset must have an Ethernet plug + WiFi Card + GPRS/G3 Capable.
I could care less about bluetooth and normal cellphone network.

Once I've got that I can use that handset and skype everywhere I am.
[obviously the handset must be able to run the required software]

The thing is anybody would be willing if they could get easy access. Our market is restricted by legislation. In the past I was very careful not to seem like I want people to break the law, but the laws have become so restrictive that I encourage anybody with balls to simply ignore the irrelevant laws (within bounds). Linking with friends across the street etc via wireless should not be something to worry about. To hell with the law. Link up!
 
Only problem i have with skype is that out of every one i know i'm the only one with adsl... if everyone had adsl i would get them all to set up skype with one of these phones.

Only internationally ... and thats the problem with Skype going forward ... they have no local presence/infrastructure.

One of these fine days (???) we will have inter-connection between the PSTNs, Cell networks & VoIP ISPs which means VoIP to non-VoIP calls (& vice versa) within SA will stay in SA. At this point Skype's reliance on international bw will become a burden.
