Howsit guys. If there is anyone here currently trading CFD's or anyone interested in getting involved, i have organised very competitive rates with my broker for online trading accounts with one of SA's most reputable banks. I know alot of the brokers online, even the bigger boys do charge significantly higher rates, so if you are keen to explore better rates, or alternatively if you are new and u'd like to begin trading, please send me a message and we can take it further

What is the Min Deposit?

CFD trading is highly risky. With the way things are geared you can make a HUGE loss in a very short time - far more than you originally invested. Stay away unless you know what you are doing.

Sup guys

Nathan, there is no minimum deposit as such, bt to make things worthwhile i'd recommend anyone to have at least 50k to trade with. You can trade with less, but not recommended.

Mbuzi i used to use standard bank as well. Fundamentally alot of information but the trading is done web based and not "live" as such. They charge 0.35% of nominal value for each leg. That rate can definately come down.

Sinbad, agree, it is risky if u don't know what u doing, but if u master it and you use leverage to your advantage, it can become very rewarding.

Remember it's a zero sum game. For every rand you make, someone else loses one...

Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros, AIG anyone ? :D

Some people never learn. lol.

I trade using Standard Bank Online Share Trading, they offer CFDs and Single Stock Futures. I Personally recommend people take up SSF instead of CFDs single SSF are regulated.

Sly21C, CFD's your risk lies with the counterparty. If you're with a bank such as standard bank/nedbank i'd say your money is relatively safe because the chances of them going down are slim in comparison to the smaller broking houses who provide CFD's.

Standard bank online share trading works fine for your average retail trader who doesn't trade that often. However if you trade regularly each month, the cost savings make a big big difference. The platform i've mentioned in this thread is more for the "active-trader" so to speak, who needs his live charting as well as live pricing/bids/offers. Standard bank is very limited in that respect.
