So I have a 2011 VW polo and never had any problems with it, 20 000km on the clock and has been for all the necessary services etc etc. This morning someone drove next to me to tell me that my car is leaking something, when I got to work I saw that leaking water. Not sure where this is coming from (could be water tank, aircon etc). There is also a small rattle that I have noticed when turning on the aircon, nothing serious.

Does the warranty cover any of this or will this be out of pocket?

I did not take any extended warranty's or anything, just the basic stuff.

take it back to vw ...its under warantee and im sure you have a maintenance plan with them as well

How can you be sure? He said he just has the basic warranty and the maintenance plan is 20K or something extra.

All new Volkswagens will be covered by a 3-year/120,000km warranty inclusive in the
price - proof of our confidence in Volkswagen's under-the-skin German engineering.

In addition, most of our models are covered by a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.

The new warranty is applicable to all models in the Volkswagen range sold in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.

the aircon should well be covered in the warranty but your best bet would to be asking VW :/

i agree check fluid levels and also test by not running aircon and checking vs running aircon and checking.

also you should be able to see where it is coming from.

When you purchased the car did you buy their bolt-on Service Plan or Maintenance Plan?

Either way the car is still under warranty and if something broke they should fix it I reckon.

Let me rephrase that as I can see where the confusion gets in, I have normal maintenance plan, did not take any extra bolt-on packages.

ok but you are then confused as with all the polo's they are bolt on, you do NOT get a MP or SP standard, only the warranty

The warranty should cover any mechanical fault, including radiator/coolant leaks.
Where are you based?

Take it to Hatfield VW Bryanston on William Nicol drive. Best service out there. 011 840 8000

I am confused :(

Based in Fourways, Joburg

if you go look at the VW site you will see that they are optional extras.

definition:

Warranty: covers mechanical manufacturing faults, i.e a none wear and tear failure on the vehicle.

MP: this covers services and wear and tear items like brakes, wipers, discs etc

SP: this covers general services and excludes brakes, wipers, discs etc

Under a normal warranty though you should still be covered for an aircon fault like this, however say it were something like needing a regas you would not be covered unless you had a MP

Lol, did you not look at what you purchased? Service & Maintenance plans are optional extras, you don't get them by default when purchasing a Polo. So if you did not buy these optional extras you only have a normal warranty but defects/failures should be covered under that during the warranty period.

cos its a 2011 POLO not vivo and OP must be crazy not to have a maintenance plan on a new polo

What difference does it make if its a Polo or Polo Vivo? none of them come with service or maintenance plans.

Tons of cars are leaking water at the moment.
Ladies Mazda 2, another guys A4, friends Tiburon, even in traffic and new spec 3 series was leaking water, it could be the weather.
#just saying.

Also battery problems seem to be quite common for 2012.

This happens sometimes when driving in humid weather with the aircon maxed. It's just condensation from the aircon.
