does anyone have a decent explanation between the two, and which is better?

Getting quotes on my and my SO - I see mine is accelerated, and hers is non-accelerated for the same amounts?

Accelerated means that you can get a portion of your death benefit earlier if you for example have a terminal disease or some other life threatening condition. However once you've used a portion your death benefit will pay out less.
