5FM’s Martinengo axed after 17 years

Sasha Martinengo will be leaving radio station 5FM after 17 years on air.

“Line-up changes are an unfortunate part of the radio landscape. Every year, 5FM, along with the SABC’s 17 other radio properties, evaluate their on-air line-up for the year ahead,” said 5FM station manager Aisha Mohamed.

“Sasha will unfortunately not be with us from April onwards. The change comes as part of a long-term strategic plan to revise our on-air offering.

“We are enormously appreciative of Sasha’s incredible work ethic, his dedication to the listeners and his support of the 5FM brand. The station, however, needs to evolve and change as our listeners do.”

Martinengo responded by saying he had had a brilliant time with the station and would miss his colleagues.

Keep him busy enough so he doesn't have time to stumble through the studio presentation before every F1 GP, 'k? Any chance you can offer the other two [-]dipsticks[/-] Formula 1 experts something to do down there in stead?

Who's replacing him? They'd better not muck about with the Drive & Morning shows, Gareth and Fresh are pretty much the only tolerable people there. Everybody else is just so bland and boring (hint: Trying to be cool when you're bland and boring, actually makes you blander and more boring, regardless of how many piercings you have, yes, you Grant)
 
5FM seems to be playing with words here.
Was he retrenched or do they want someone younger?
 
I think Sasha had 2 or 3 good years in him. Guess gareth cliff is next on the chopping block
 
Erica Elle was also recently removed from their portfolio, for reasons I cannot fathom - she was a excellent DJ (granted a VERY late night show) but still a looker IMO, so not age - 5Fm insists it's constantly reshaping it's brand.
But why then not remove the likes of Fresh, Gareth Cliff ?
Doesn't make sense

Yeah, if they replace him with anyone that makes my ears bleed as much as KB, then it's 5FM no more for me.
 
Wish they would replace the "Dumb, Dumber" pair of twits (Grant & Anele). I feel my intellect shrinking every second I'm tuned in to their idiotic garbage.

Glad anele left tuksfm while back, thank goodness.
 
Ahhh , so 5Fm will become less of the station it was when it was Radio 5, and more like MetroFM now... yippee.. even MORE reason not to listen to it anymore.

Now all that needs to happen is SuperSport need to "re-evaluate" their Formula 1 line up.. and get rid of those morons who currently present their stuff.
 
He left the wrong show. Should have left F1 and stayed on 5fm :/

For years now 5fm has been a MetroFM clone.
