Court orders man to spoil his wife

FORGET prison, parole or probation: a Florida man was sentenced to buy his wife flowers, take her to a restaurant and then out for a night of bowling.

Joseph Bray, 47, received the unusual sentence after his arrest for domestic violence in an argument that started when he forgot his wife’s birthday on Monday, the Orlando Sentinel reported this week.

Judge John Hurley also ordered Bray and his wife to undergo marriage counselling.

The light sentence came after Bray’s wife confirmed to the judge that she was not injured in the dispute and that she did not fear a repeat.

Bray had no prior arrests, and never hit his wife during the scuffle that started after he made no acknowledgment of his spouse’s birthday. – Sapa-AP

I wonder how the night went down. Somehow a court-ordered bouquet of flowers and dinner just doesn't sound romantic. Poor woman

Men sometimes forget birthdays... and anniversaries... this is known.

Seems like a rather flippant sentencing. How about counselling?

Well, he never hit or injured her in any way, sounds like it was just a very loud and heated argument with stuff being thrown, probably enough to concern neighbors.

It doesn't actually sound like a court should have been involved at all.

Reminder on phone 2 weeks before event (anniversary and SO's birthday), and then every morning for a week until the day. And the reminders are synced to my Google Calendar so they repeat annually :D
Don't want problems. Couch not comfy for sleeping.

+1

This sentence is way over the top and will no doubt leave some scarring.
