Cape Town - Three train coaches were set alight in Kuils River in Cape Town, Metrorail said on Friday.

Regional manager Lindelo Matya said one coach was completely destroyed while two were extensively damaged.

The fire started around 11:00 on Thursday. No injuries were reported.

Matya said arson was suspected. The damage was likely to run into several million rand.

Eight coaches had been burnt in the past six months.

"The loss [of the three coaches] further reduces our capacity to serve customers on a very busy route.

Our customers suffer the consequences of irresponsible, cowardly acts," he said.

Metrorail has offered a reward of up to R25 000 for information leading to a successful conviction.

I want to know whose behind this conserted campaign against metrorail...

Some people don't know their "struggle" ended in 1994 and from then on in it was supposed to be 100% hunky dory.

Oh, maybe in a few years time there will be a state of the nation address talking about the new struggle.

This is sabotage. Somebody is systematically crippling metrorail. Who has the most to gain out of a crippled train service?

One would assume it would be the taxi industry but all recent reports have confirmed that the striking security guards are the biggest cause.

Just googling "Cape Town Vandals Metrorail" will bring up a long list of recent articles. The sad thing is that everybody is a looser at the end of the day but more so the guys who rely on the train network to keep bread on the table.

Ja that's the sad part. Innocent people will suffer.

it will never end, according to some black people, they have to kill all of the whites or kick them out of South Africa ....
then, they have to kill or chase all of the foreign investors and employers out of South Africa......
and then scrap the capitalism.....
and then ....... up until all equal in South Africa. (I guess -> all people in SA are all equally poor. :p)

they said they enjoy the life like this. what can I say? :wtf:

so it will never stop....... I guess.
