Morally, the ANC is very weak.
But he (Malema) underestimated the willingness of Zuma to do whatever it takes to stay in office.
On the nail.
Outside the current bunch of so-called struggle heroes, the biggest hero to black South Africans is probably Tshaka - a role model for Zuma who fancies himself as the chief and is quietly making himself equally powerful. If Zuma gets a second term he will become chief for life as Mugabe has done.
Tshaka was part of a culture that believed and practised
"MIGHT IS RIGHT" and when he wanted the cattle and women belonging to other tribes he simply helped himself, killing all who got in his way.
Two years ago Shabir Shaik was regularly topping up Zuma's begging bowl but now Zuma (and his family) is immensely wealthy because he has helped himself to whatever he wanted.
Zuma's history while running the dreaded security system in the terrorist camps before 1994 show all too clearly what he is capable of. Zuma is tightening an already iron grip on all instruments of democracy and he will soon strangle them completely, resulting in a Mugabe type dictatorship at best. At worst we will plunge into a repeat of the Congo in the 1960s.
In South Africa, "black culture" is absolutely sacrosanct and any criticism is labelled racism. Witch killings, muti murders and bush circumcisions/deaths are very common but are a part of the culture and are seldom even investigated, let alone prosecuted. Zuma's culture is alive and well and is being actively practised throughout the country.
Zuma and his lesser chiefs do not regard any of their actions as corruption but rather as their cultural right. That belief will guide all his actions in the future and it terrifies me that nobody can see what is happening.
