Samuel L. Jackson made a surprising confession in the March issue of Ebony.

"I voted for Barack because he was black. Cause that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them," Jackson said, according to the New York Post.

He contended that Obama's message wasn't important, since he believes most politicians will say anything to get elected.

"That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean [anything] to me. In the end, he’s a politician. I just hoped he would do some of what he said he was gonna do. I know politicians ... lie cause they want to get elected," he continued, according to TMZ.

It's like my parents. They only vote for the coloured singers in Idols. Talent be damned.
 
Well no surprise there. I'm sure there are lots of others who didn't vote for him because he is not white. Obama isn't black - he's half & half (or thereabouts).
I know people here who don't like him because he's not white.
 
At least he's an honest guy. Most (white and black) people, in my opinion, voted for him because he is black. I think that was the Dems strategy.

Amazing if a white actor came out and said he voted based on race he'd be lambasted with vitriol and booted out of Hollywood.

But because he's black he gets credit for "being honest"

The bottomless pit of human stupidity for all to see again. :o

Well he is been honest and he can get away with saying that because that is how it works in the world today.

You cannot say things like that as a white person for various reasons. Perhaps it will change in the future?

I don't think your correct in saying this. I mean let's be honest here, alot of the republicans voted for McCain because he wasn't black. It's like an unspoken truth, everyone knows that a ton of people voted for Obama purely because he was black.

The fact of the matter is that most candidates in American elections are white, so for someone to come out and say "I voted for x candidate because he's white" would be a bit .... ... like who cares dude?

Don't think they'd get nailed for that kinda statement to be honest... you seem a bit oversensitive regarding this topic IMO.

Is Obama an honest guy? He was a lawyer before, so he has a silver tongue. Able to lie better than most others :p

You're right, you won't get nailed, you'll be completely destroyed if you are in the public eye for saying you voted for some guy cause hes white.

But musical taste is largely culturally determined. I wouldn't vote for a white Idol either, unless they sang something that I understood - like R&B or Soul. It's not racist but it's a matter of whether you are able to relate to the music or not.
 
As my African neighbour used to say:Black people can not be racist because they are black WTF If a group of Africans attack, rob, rape and in the end murder a old white person, they did it for all the reasons in the world but not racism. On the other hand, if a group of whites do the same to a African, of course is pure racism regardles what other reasons they may have had.
 
Credit for being honest? More like he's being incredibly stupid.

Voting for someone purely based on skin color without knowing what he represented is a dumbass thing to do.

Well he's saying politicians will tell you what you want to hear - not what they intend to do.

So if everything you are told is just empty promises then you vote for the guy you relate to the most ?
