Thinking of moving to 8ta

Hi there,

Was just wondering if someone could share their experiences with 8ta with regards to network coverage and general service.

I am located in Cape Town and Stellenbosch and am interested in the Contract 1 package which includes a Blackberry Curve 8520. Does anyone know what the network reception is like in these areas and if there are any other factors I need to consider?

I havent had any problems with 8ta prepaid - reception is good in most areas of CPT though I haven't been Stellenbosch side. Personally I wouldn't get a contract with them... that is purely based on the fact that they are using Telkom's billing systems - prepaid is good - but I'd be hesitant to get a contract.

Their phone-jockey's are fairly knowledgeable, but I think someone else on contract should comment with regards to accounts and billing..

As far as their BIS goes, it's great - the additional 500MB thrown in with your BIS subscription is a bonus if you use the phone as a modem and the BIS service is much quicker than on Voda.
 
Absolutely Love 8ta.Getting about 120 mins free every month just by talking on my phone
 
As long as you keep your phone on MTN you will be ok in Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch presently have only 1 tower located near the police station, but they have applications pending for a couple more.

But the old ooms and tannies who have got nothing better to do with their time are trying to block new towers.
 
I'm using 8ta and WILL not move to another network anytime soon..... Prepaid just give that much more than any other network......

55 sms for R2.50 a day....
Free minutes when people call you
Free airtime when you recharge [for me and a few lucky others too, not all though]
Prepaid blackberry also is a blast with 500mb extra data bundle and great blackberry speed
R1.50 flat rate or per second if you prefer.

8ta is just amazing. I love them...... I know I sound like a fanboi but try it for yourself. I regret I can not comment on contract...
 
Was also thinking of getting 8ta for my home internet needs in stellenbosch, but i guess we will need to wait. Some time. Telkom adsl 384 is just way too slow. Even youtube vids take forever.
