Effects of making an app free

I ended up watching the video on wpentral.com. Well done, dude. Those Americans are very happy with your app (FFFFound) :D

Do you develop for other platforms as well? Do you make decent money from developing these apps?

No, only WP7. And yeah, making a descent amount. Not groundbreaking, but then again, I only have a few apps currently.

Cool. I'm busy learning Android but I have no idea what I'm even going to make. Everything's been done before.

How do you get paid? Do they send a cheque in the post?

Theres always something, and even if you don't have a totally original idea, you can always improve on other peoples work.

Microsoft just sends an EFT.

That's what I was thinking ya. Not always that easy though :)

Do you have to pay tax on the money you get?
 
@mercurial I filed papers to be exempt from US tax, but local tax is the same as if I was getting the money from a salary, so yes.

@ld13 Yep. Think the date is the 28th of each month.
 
@Roguemat: Please, can you explain how can I filed the papers to be exempt from US tax?
planning to submit a paid/free ads-supported game in march.

Fill out the W-8 tax form and send it through to [email protected] with your apphub username.
Then fillout your bank details on the apphub.

Thanks man! Google need to catch a wake up. Apparently they don't do EFTs. They send cheques :erm:

Wow, didn't know anyone still used cheques. (funnily enough, the Firefox spellcheck does not recognize the work "cheque" :P).

My son currently has an app out on Android. Busy converting it to iPhone now and then the next step will be WP.

Would you mind fielding questions on WP development when he reaches that point?
