opinion on Kia Cerato 1.8 / 2.0 (manual & auto)

I see that Kia is offering a R15 000 discount off the Kia Cerato until the end of Feb. I have not test driven the car but was wondering if anyone out there is driving one, please share your opinion on the car - the good and the bad.

At this price point of R180 - R220, it seems like a good buy, however, I'm thinking that the Honda Ballade seems like a better buy.

Since the Ballade isn't a v-tec I'd take the Cerato. From the comments I've read from the other forumites I'm sure others would agree.

I have my Cerato 2.0 Manual hatch since May 2011, it is a awesome vehicle. Period!!!
 
My buddy has the Cerato Koup and it is a FANTASTIC car!! Really love it. A mate of mine at the office bought a new Kia Rion 2 weeks ago. That is also a brilliant lil car. Kia is doing great and the cars are awesome!!!
 
It is 1.6 and 2.0, no 1.8.

I also have one and love it, awesome car.
 
Test drove the cerato hatch, i30 and ford focus all 2l models in manual

I would go for the focus even though it does not have leather seats and is more expensive. The ride felt better, Bluetooth cruise control all std, the model has just been released so no new shape coming.

The Cerato was nice to drive very punchy but not as refined as the focus.
You can basically use the 15k any way you want as extra money on the trade-in or for extras you don't have to take the cash back.

Not so sure about that, there is still bugger all on the internet and I asked KIA on facebook and they said q2 2013. I am aware of the article on the car mag website, not sure its trustworthy. I hope not I only got mine in 2010 :(

Just search this forum for Cerato ...

The good:
- Solid vehicle
- A list of features beating most rivals which are priced R30K+ more
- Good fuel economy (currently average 6.5L/100km with the 2.0 on the N1 every day between PTA and Midrand)
- Rival beating engine power compared to competitors in same class

The bad:
- Grabby clutch + sensitive accelerator = tap dance when pulling away (not nice in rush hour traffic that moves slowly - consider buying automatic gearbox)
- Steering is twitchy on rough surfaces
- 17 inch rims with low profiles = harsh ride on rough roads. Consider the 16 inch rims if you purchase the 2.0

Most of the time I drive it with cruise control set at 100km/h but if you wind the engine up it becomes fun.
Torque is fairly good even low down. On flat ground in top gear you can pull away from 60km/h (1000 RPM).

The next C'eed and the Cerato will be the same car. Available in some countries from later this year. South Africa next year...

If that is true what vehicle will replace the Kia Cerato sedan?
As far as I know the C'eed only comes in hatchback form.
The Cerato/Forte is Kia's only C segment sedan.

I'm sure they will make a sedan version of the one in the link. Silly to have two different C-segment hatches. Will try and find the article, where it says Cerato/Forte/C'eed will be the same car.
 
Okay, I don't know where I read that... I will change my statement and say that the new Cerato MIGHT be the same care as the new C'eed :D
 
I went to KIA this afternoon and test drove the Cerrato 2.0 auto. It was a brilliant drive, have to admit. Very responsive, good value for money features, PDC (did not realise this was standard)

Just one pointer, I felt a noticable understeer, not sure if this was specific to the car I test drove. I'm thinking maybe i'm too used to the road holding of a Golf 4 TDi.

Rear park distance control is even standard on the R181K Kia Rio 1.4 Tec as is:
- Cooled glove box
- Climate control
- Electric windows all round
- Power folding side mirrors
- Heated side mirrors
- Bluetooth
- Rain sensing wipers

Most of the competitors only add all these features in their R230K+ vehicles and even then a lot of it is optional extras (VW).
