Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. A quick check at other forums (Apple, Whirlpool) indicates that others have a similar problem, but I'm wondering if other South Africans have the same issue.

When I turn on the personal hotspot of an iPhone 4 (with a contract MTN SIM in it) on, the MacBook Pro I tested with picked it up with no issue and connected. No problems.

However, after awhile the hotspot just disappears and the little loading circle appears next to it in the settings menu (General->Network). If you wait long enough it comes back, but time is money, you know?

Anyone else have this problem? On which network with which iDevice(s)?

*EDIT: Found this - http://www.net.princeton.edu/apple-ios/ios41-allows-lease-to-expire-keeps-using-IP-address.html - guess it answers the question.

While waiting for the fix and if you jailbroken try installing a little tweak called prevent sleep.

I've also found there to be some inconsistencies with wifi interaction between my pc and iPhone, using it primarily for data transfer via ssh. I find prevent sleep ensures a far more stable and reliable connection. Switch is off when it not in use though, as it can be quite taxing on battery life.

I am unable to link my mac book pro to my 4s at all! Works fine on pc iPad etc though... Very strange. U would think the MacBook would work and pc not
