Big tech savings with Incredible Connection trade-in deals

I saw the promo pamphlet..
they are offering R1000 off the retail price of a tablet PC if you give them your old tablet,

a R1000! what are they smoking?!?

i just sold my ipad 2 16gb for R5000 ( i paid R5699 ) and the local Incredible would only give me R1000 back.

R700 discount on a Samsung 23” full HD LED monitor (R1799 trade-in price)

I bought my 23" Samsung monitor for R1599, and that was 18 months ago! Damn the government with their bloody tv-taxes!

How does this work though? Do you take thief and they determine how much? Like cash crusaders?

Surely you give them any monitor even CRT or any laptop? do they check first if it works

This isn't really a broadband/IT news article.

I understand that many people wouldn't know about things like this if it isn't posted here, so surely it's time that we had a Promotions/Specials/similar section so that these types of releases don't come across as an advertisement?

^^ Agree with Mr Hoxbig wholeheartedly, +1 to them ripping us off (in most cases).

They shoulda put a Vita up for grabs :D

Good point.

Are you referring to a promo forum section or a promo news section?

well if you can take a crt monitor im selling 15" working samsungs for a 100 bucks a pop :p

Hmm, either/or, possibly both, whichever would work best for the forum :)

My personal opinion would be to have a promo news section to be used by admins for releases such as this and other articles that may have been called into question. A forum section that is open to anyone might turn into an advertising mess. But again it's entirely your call.

I don't really see it as a blatant advertorial as the fact is E-Waste is a major concern in this country and Incredible are the only store I know attempting to do anything about it? How else would they compel people to bring in their E-Waste without dangling a reward in front of them?

Any old cr@p, they take and give you discount. Did it 2 years ago to get a new 26" monitor. Saving R700 to "upgrade" is a bargain. If you do not need it then do not buy it.

e-waste is the concern here and I think IC are making a good effort towards that cause.

A news section sounds like a better idea. If you look at the current hardware specials thread you'll see that it's turned into a thread where people ask for advise, for good prices, and where people will advise someone on a technology. It is very seldom that you'll see a real good deal mentioned in there. The forumites' just aren't capable of keeping to the subject of the thread. A promo forum will soon be cluttered with useless discussions, rather than any useful specials/promotions.

i agree.i gave them a dead monitor and got R300 discount on a 19-inch samsung.was perfect timing as the monitor just died :P

Does anyone know if you can just give them something without buying anything?my old 7300 graphics card just died.

I need to go dig though my storage room to see what I've got. I need that 27inch samsung :(

This sounds interesting... I have 3 broken (well working just dying) LCD monitors, would they take all three and give me a bigger discount?

I wish this was possible i got 4 well working monitors 1x13inch 1x15inch and 2x17inch just lying on top of my wardrobe just collecting dust.
