The LG D2342P 3D monitor......

Ok guy not my first choice but my trusty Samsung 226 bw just died, considering the age of the 226bw this will be an upgrade, and it cheaper then I paid for the 226bw, will let you guys know how it performs, oh I am making a fuss cause it 3d for R2300 ex vat ex markup vs 9 series samsung for 5k ex vart ex marku,p there is a very mixed bag of reviews for this monitor but considering the age of my 226bw im sure its an upgrade, im not to keen to spend money as i have a 90k roof repair to attend to.

im a few vodkas down excuse spelling...

pp to be used as a pc monitor i assumed a person with the calibre of knowledge that you have would realise (real eyes, real lies)'dthis.
 
I’m going for LG entry level 3d and hopefully I can give an unbiast review of cinema 3d. I was looking at this TV as well considering, the price of active shutter glasses so hopefully my review will shed some light,I would have loved the 9 series Samsung but unfortunately i have to fix m roof. So till tomorrow.
 
While preventing being trolled by wily me, I forgot you were the OP. I know it's going to be used as a PC monitor, but of course there are many different 'sub-uses' within using is as a PC monitor, which may point to a certain screen/tech being more suitable for your specific needs - which is why I asked. How much reliance on 3D is there?

I'm not sure if it's going to give you a great overall improvement, simply because it uses TN panel tech. If you're looking for overall better experience and picture quality, you have to go for an IPS LCD screen, instead of the TN LG and Samsung 9 and 99% of PC LCDs. You don't have to be a photo editor to go for IPS, anyone can benefit from it be it work, movies, etc.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the screen is still limited to accepting 60Hz maximum (60 frames per second), same as your usual LCDs.

If you are dead set on 3D, and after weighing up having 3D vs the benefits of IPS, go for it. Going by their TVs (IPS), LG's passive 3D the best option for bang for buck. Not sure how TN PC LCD will compare ITO 3D quality. Perhaps wily me can contain his excitement and shed some light.

Right then. I guess I am of no more use! We now understand that according to the expert, using it as a "PC monitor" can only mean one outcome, absolutely no deciding factors pointing to certain PC screens. Anyone using a screen as a PC monitor means they use it for the same things, because they are using it as a PC monitor.

No need to help further, or break things down, analyse the situation further. No need to contribute further.

Just attack PP.

Sad indeed. Next time tone down the ANTI 3D/LG rhetoric. Is there a decent Plasma PC monitor out there?

Nah, nor really. Just taking the pi$$ out of You. I appreciate what you are doing, agenda and all. I learned to read between your lines and only take in the valid or useful points. The rest if taken in and believed by some sucker, well it's not my money. ;)

As for the IPS v TN panel, as PC monitor I very seldom see my screen from an angle so never noticed an major issue, then there are some other advantages inherent to the modern IPS panels. But lets not get into that discussion again.

BTW if you directly discussed, without bias, the advantages/disadvantages and what to look for in a modern day PC LCD monitor then your response would have been more acceptable than asking "what a PC monitor will be used for" ;) IMHO 3D is one of the latest technologies sought after in a modern PC and shunning it for the sake of minute or negligible differences is just wrong in my opinion. But then again that's just me and the "evil 'market forces" :)

So what, viewing angles are a minor benefit for PC users. The other benefits far outweight it. Even if looking straight on 100% of the time. Every person I've spoke to about it, non professional PC users, who have gone from TN to IPS/PVA, will never go back. And it's not because of viewing angles.

Keep your old tech, keep advising based on it.

People use PC monitors for different stuff. Like people use TV for different stuff. "PC" and "TV" mean bugger all in the greater sceme once understanding the particular needs of each individual.

The problem is, you regard 3D as the bloody be all and end all while most don't who could benefit in those multiple PC areas besides 3D. You force that, instead of enquiring how much reliance each individual has in 3D. Also, you don't have PC IPS. BIG FLAW. You advise this way because for YOU TN is acceptable.

Ok so here goes, not very good news for this monitor at all I'm afraid.

Cons:
1: Blacks are not good at all I have turned brightness way down (skyrim) in game and on monitor it’s still not very dark.
2: There are horizontal lines when in desktop mode, browsing the net and normal app use.
3: HDMI has some sort of interference when playing games in 2d mode - DVI seems to remedy this.
4: Horizontal refresh lag in rage is absolutely shocking will do some more testing.
5: Colour seems quiet washed out

Pros:
1: Wasn’t very expensive for a monitor with 3D

Hmmm wonder if I can return this, will keep on testing but so far I cannot recommend this LCD monitor. Quiet unhappy so far. With regards to 3D , it seems to do the job well enough, I have no experience with active so can’t really compare the two. 3D has two settings in gaming mode, virtual 3 mode and 3d mode. Virtual mode seems allot smoother but seems to have flaws on occasion. Will keep testing and see if I can add some use full info later.

But right now if I can return this I think I am going to.
