Hey guys

I have a samsung G3 hdd and i recently bought a Samsung UA40d5500 tv. I had my HDD plugged into the tv, and i watched movies etc, which was great, however, when i unplugged the HDD out the tv, and plugged it into my pc, i cannot access the HDD. The image of the HDD looks like an unknown file type, and when i try access it, it says Access denied! Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is very frustrating.

HAHAHA, You know what.... I'm ashamed to say i did not try that this morning! Ok let me try rebooting the pc, then i will let you know! Wow i feel like a noob right now!

Plug it back in the TV and see if it is still Ok. Maybe the TV corrupted the data during the unplugging, remember the "safely remove (USB) hardware and media" functions on PC? The USB should first be stopped before removal. I am not sure if the same is relevant on the TV.

Must have got corrupt somehow.

I have a G2 (FAT32 formatted) which I move between 46d6000 TV, Win7, Mac OSX & PS3 without issue.

Are you using the front USB port on your PC. I found that sometimes the USB ports on the back of the PC works better with drives bigger than 250GB. Something to do with bus power and bus speed.

Hey guys, the HDD still works in the tv, but not in the pc. The HDD still says that it is NTFS in windows... I am very confused.

What tv was it? Just so i never buy one of them!

Check the file system. i've had instances where the fs was not properly unmounted in linux and then it would not be readable in windows but still readable in linux. I would do try and do a fs repair.

You can try this -

Click Start
Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Computer Management
Disk Management
If your external drive is shown as " Foreign Disk"
Right click on the Foreign Disk
Select "Import Foreign Disk"

All should be good again ...
