BMW New 3 Series (F30) Pricing released

Goodness me! Not ANOTHER new 3 series. And next year there will be another new 3 series.

No wonder BMW has got such a crappy resale value.
 
I'm loving the new 320 engine. 135kw, 270 torque.

Its actually going to be a real joy to drive now. And I'm loving the look, especially other pics.

E90's been around since '05; pretty standard model cycle there. The 3 actually also holds value reasonably well...

Not sure release interval is THAT relevant to resale. Alfa Romeo release a new model as and when the mood seems to strike them. Their resale is terrible.

Some comparisons:

VW Golf release interval:
Golf Mk1/Rabbit (A1/Typ 17, 1974–1983) - 9 years
Golf Mk2 (A2/Typ 19E, 1983–1992) - 9 years
Golf Mk3 (A3/Typ 1H, 1991–1999) - 8 years

Golf Mk5 (A5/Typ 1K, 2003–2009) - 6 years

If refresh/replacement frequency was a concern Audi resale would be an issue.

I had the same reaction at first but then I checked the reviews and I changed my mind. It's a new car inside and out, now I love it!
 
Jesus. Tick a few options and you are paying 650k for a 3 series. Some of those options came standard on my car...
 
Cars in this country are seriously overpriced.

Take a Golf GTi - tick a few extras and you're almost at R400000. For a Golf? Insane.

And the big LOL is that they will be using a common chassis that will make it much cheaper to manufacture cars.

Will we see a dip in price? I doubt it.

Love the BMW 135i Cabriolet, but it costs more than R500000. Then I'd rather take a Porsche Boxster.
 
Interesting to see the pricing compared to other cars built in SA. We still pay more with no import costs?
These are going to be built in Rosslyn, good for our economy but not as citizens.
 
the speeds took a nice bump up :) 0-100 that is.
 
the biggest travesty is that they've left the Es.

oh and kingrob has really shown himself up there. basically repeating the mantra of the 80s when empirical evidence shows that the 3 series is one of the cars that holds value well.
 
Looks good, but bloody hell, it's expensive... :eek:

Think I'll stick to my E90, 6 cylinder for a while longer.
 
wow those prices are high, didn't really expect any much though.

Must say it does look nice.

Half the optional extras that you would normally take on there came standard with the Merc....
 
R400K for a top of the range 320i ? :wtf:
Nice vehicle but that's just insane.

I bought my first new vehicle for R200K two years ago and based on the new vehicle prices it will be the only new vehicle I ever purchase in my lifetime. I'm not enjoying this R4000 monthly payment crap. :cry:
R8000 per month is a bond repayment.

but you will have a large deposit/trade in with your current vehicle

but I agree R400K, we are heading Porsche territory
 
Looks like a BMW.

I don't quite understand the naming scheme for BMW's. It's almost devious :)

116i = 1.6l engine
118i = 1.6l engine (people think it's 1.8l)
120D = 2.0l engine
130i = 3.0l engine
320i = 2.0l engine
325i = 2.5l engine
320D = 2.0l engine
328i = 2.0l engine (people think it's 2.8l)
330D = 3.0l engine
330i = 3.0l engine
335i = 3.0l engine (people think it's 3.5l)

As you can see, for their most popular models the name corresponds to the engine size. So people get used to that naming. It's almost like they're trying to deceive people. For years I thought a 335i had a 3.5l engine until I actually went and checked the specs for myself.
