telkom adsl 1 mb line with DuoPlus 300WR

i need help , recently installed a telkom dsl 1 mb line with a duoplus 300wr router/modem.i am using it wirelessly to connect to the pc.the down load transfer rate is miserably slow.is there any way i can increase the speeds ? its the uncapped plan.takes about 15 minutes just to download a 5 mb file.anyone can help please.

Speed Restrictions

6am - 6pm: up to 472 kbps
6pm - 10pm: up to 767 kbps
10pm - 6am: up to 1 Mbps
No restriction on local data

the best i get is about 100 kbps with the default web browser.when i use idm its the same transfer rate.
 
Perhaps you are to far away from the Dslam? I would suggest phoning telkom, and asking them to take a look at your Connection
 
Your router uses 802.11b/g, an old wireless standard that is prone to interference. http://www.duoplus.co.za/pdf/duoplus_300WR0409-lr.pdf

Try using an Ethernet cable connection for testing your speeds before contacting Telkom.

If a Telkom techie comes to your house and plugs his router into your cable, uses a cable connection and gets 1Mbps speeds, you will be charged an unnecessary callout fee.

More like... how far is your PC away from your wireless router? And how many walls are between your PC and your wireless router? :p
 
If you're getting 100 KB/s (kilo bytes per second) download rate that's about right on a 1 mega bit line. But if you're saying you have the download rate equivalent of a 100 kilo bit line (download rate of 12KB/s) then there's something wrong.
Can you check what speed your router is connecting at, maybe you have a bad line.
 
what is the Dslam? its 2 walls only.ok will do a direct connection with a cable.is it not the router itself.thanks

International not so good
What area are you in ??
I know where most of the exchanges are in durban
