Can you buy a motherboard from Amazon?

Hi all

Just another thread regarding my motherboard. I want to try and import my motherboard (ASUS P9X79) since it works out to around R800 cheaper, but amazon doesn't ship mobo's to SA only in the US. How can I import it from the US and will the warrantee still be effective? Finally would you recommend doing this or is it dangerous in terms of warranties etc?
 
You'll have to use an intermediary of some kind. So Amazon will ship to them, and they will ship to you.
Warranty, you'll have it... but in the USA, so good luck with the shipping costs if something is broken.
 
For R800... rather buy local. The peace of mind alone is worth it. If you are adamant in buying it from overseas, rather use a Wantitall kinda service like Takealot. Sometimes it works out cheaper than buying directly from Amazon. Also have a look at services like MyUS.

If you buy the correct brand motherboards will be fairly low cost locally.

Perhaps you should reconsider your chosen brand...

No ways lol. But seriously for me there is no other better mobo brand than ASUS :D

Takealot has it for around R6000 :sick:
 
Might work out cheaper now, but if something goes wrong and you have to RMA it you are going to be sorry.

You should speak to Zero Cool, he seems to want the same chassis as you and also plans on saving money by importing... He hasn't been online since the day you registered though:confused:

I'm also buying my 2 EVGA GeForce 560Ti 2048MB GDDR5 Graphics cards from amazon, since I just can't find anyone supplying that specific card, many are advertising Point of View GeForce 560Ti 2048MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards, but I don't trust that brand anymore, my last Point of View graphics card blew up.

I saw most of the things on his list, guess we share the same interests in PC's

And the same will to import, from what I gather he has the whole thing figured out, you should really talk to him...
