Early January 2012 I cancelled my Telkom 16GB advanced account with Telkom and signed up for a DO broadband basic up to 384kbps (R219 per month) account via the 10210 number. Near the end of January I received my account and noted that I had in actual fact been signed up for the uncapped advanced (R369 per month). I was billed R369 for January and R369 for February.
I contacted 10210 again on 21 January and asked them to cancel my account and sign me up for the uncapped basic for R219. The consultant said I should pay my account and call back on the last day of January to cancel the service. The consultant said the amount for February would be credited.
On the last day of January I contacted 10210. I waited on the line for 2 hours and 13 minutes for a consultant A new record for me). I requested that he cancel my service. The consultant said he was not sure if the charge for February would be credited to my account as he could not see my next invoice.
A day or two later I then contacted 10210 again and signed up for the Telkom do uncapped basic and made sure 3 times that it was the package for R219. Three times the consultant replied yes.
I received my account on the 21st of February. Again the package I was signed up for the incorrect package, do uncapped advanced for R369. For this service I was billed for February and March. The cancelled product which I did not use at all in February was not credited. In effect I paid twice for February.
I don't really know how to proceed and think maybe I should cancel all my services with Telkom and live without Internet. All I use it for is the news servers and I am happy to wait for my stuff to download but I cant afford R700 a month for Internet on my salary.
