Taken from MWEB's homepage voting :
Should Jacob Zuma's HIV status and sexual history be questioned at his rape trial?
I say if they con interogate the accuser then they should do the same to the accuse.:(

since he has decided to testify, they should be able to question him just like they did the accuser

Exactly.
I would certainly want to know his HIV status if he was running for President of South Africa?

Well i would bet you he is HIV + and he was before this rape happened. (yes i have judged him - i think he is guilty)
Wouldn't be surprised if he was +...i too think he is guilty

Breaking news: Zuma says in court .......
Zuma says he is HIV -
Yeah right - sure i belive you !!
How can he just SAY that...they should test him to be sure.

Agreed. Just like he denied having sex with this woman in the first place.
This trial is gonna go round in circles just watch...he has lots of supporters and the courts are going to delay giving a verdict coz they don't wanna cause a riot.
I hope it ends soon.
With all due respect to the lady who was allegedly raped, I am tired of reading about Zuma's Sex Life.
I am really not interested anymore.
The Media sure know how to harp on something.
What astounds me is that our former deputy president can say that he didn't think one could HIV just by having sexual intercourse with a woman. (He was also appointed as chairman of the AIDS council or something...)
But then again, our president did say that HIV does not cause AIDS, so I suppose anything is possible.

He has not yet been convicted - so his HIV status should be private and has nothing to do with anybody.
Victims should have the right to know the status of their rapists only IF they have been convicted.

Then why should her status and sexual history be in the public domain? He says he was only tested in 1998 - a lot can happen in that time. I bet you he is +

yo definitely have a point charl .... just because someone is accused does not mean they are guilty and as such should not be forced into anything .... but he has chosen to testify and as such ... he is fair game for the lawyers :)

@ charl.voster the victim is hiv+ and ALL her sexual history were being opened up in court by zuma lawyers so the same should be done with zuma

What's with this - if I didn't have sex with her it would be I raped her - so I was a gentlemen to have sex with her - how f#cked up is this?
"And I said to myself, I know as we grew up in the Zulu culture you don't leave a woman in that situation because if you do then she will even have you arrested and say that you are a rapist."

crap! It is easy to accuse somebody of doing something. You people are assuming he is guilty until he proves innocent - that is wrong and unjust!
How would you feel if I said you were a racist at your office in front of your black colleagues??

if top ranking politicians dont even about how HIV is contracted, how the hell do they expect to bring the AIDS rate down? no point trying to educate the man on the street, start at the top first and set an example. yea not sure whether its funny or sad

do you know how many rapists are never convicted, never reported, cases thrown out of court because some idiot messed up the investigation, etc.

Chances are the woman was on anti retro virals... which i believe reduces the chances of infection... wonder why they haven't used this excuse in the trial yet.

I heard on the radio that Zuma believes that you can reduce your chances of HIV infection by having a shower after unprotected sex. Maybe some garlic and lemon would also help...

South African ex-Deputy President Jacob Zuma said he showered after sex with an HIV-positive woman, thinking this would reduce his risk of being infected.
....
Before being sacked as deputy president last year, Mr Zuma headed the government's National Aids Council and the Moral Regeneration Campaign.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4879822.stm
Putting someone who thinks a shower will protect you from HIV in charge of the National Aids Council is like:
- putting Manto Tshabalala-Msimang in charge of Health
- putting Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri in charge of Communications

And took a shower everytime to wash away the aids ? :D
he also said if you arouse a woman and just leave her she'll get angry and might lay a false charge of rape against you....is this guy high on something? and the shower thing is just something else..
With a brain like he has,how the hell does he stay alive?

I wonder if zuma is really the dumbest person on earth or is he just playing a mind game so the court will let him go on a case of no brain found.
