Good day guys,

Recently got a PSP 3000 from my fiancé, was moaning in Macro the one day while walking around in the store... Week or two went pass and I found it on my pillow the one evening... helps to moan it seems :p Not the point :p

I quite like RPG's, so my first game I payed was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII , was okay'ish, bit linier (like all Final Fantasy games), graphics and gameplay was fine... Next I tried The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, also not to bad, story was okay... Next and the one I'm now busy with is Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, quite like it, progressing very slow as it is turn bases and you have like 10 characters to control...

Anyways, what other games should I look out for? Specifically what did you like and why? Don't tell me Rugby 08, I'm not interested to hear it :p

PSP is used when I'm lying in bed at night and I'm to lazy to walk to the living room to play Xbox 360 :p

Try Jeanne D'Arc, an SRPG with way less grind than many of the others (as in I wasn't a huge fan of Disgaea). It's a fairly different feel but maybe try Valkyria Chronicles 2 as well.

Valkryrie Profile Lenneth is hands down the best PSP RPG ever, it's got a slow start but becomes such an epic game once you get into the story, the amount of customization in this game can be quite staggering and the game has quite a long learning curve but it's well worth the trouble.

Im busy playing The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky on my PSP at the moment finding it a bit dull but I'm only like 7 hours in so hoping it gets better through must say it's got superb art . Otherwise both God of War games are fairly fun RPG arcade games and if you want a real challenge {like 300-400 hours+} get any of the Monster Hunter games ecspecially number two the game is sooooooooooo hard and long {but can become very tedious and I guess it's not stictly speaking a RPG since there is no leveling only better equipment and harder monsters}. Otherwise try Star Ocean First Departure or Second Story {Both very good}, Crimson Gem Saga {I found it dull but it got mostly good reviews} or if you like hack and slash rpgs you can try Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony {Through I found it very very dull}, lastly you can try Dungeon and Dragons Tactics {through this is hardcore dungeons and dragons I love games like baldurs gate I & II and I found this game boring and way to complex} and that's all the PSP rpg's I've played.

But ultimatley the PSP's true strength as an RPG platform lies in the fact that it can play PSX games {so almost any JRPG that was converted to english will work (with few exceptions)}, with that you can get Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX, Xenogears, Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve I and II, Legend of Dragoon, Grandia, Legend of Mana or if you're a sucker for punishment get Hoshigami Running Blue Earth probably the hardest and most extremely tedious game ever made {but the sense of reward after completing it was equally good}. All of these are good solid JRPG's I'm not a big fan of Final Fantasy and Hoshigami Running Blue Earth is very very hard and long read some reviews before getting it but otherwise they are all fun.

But if you get one game make sure you get Valkryie Profile Lenneth it's by far the best of all the RPG's listed above {and I have played if not passed all the games I've listed above} through reccomend getting a good statergy guide for Valkryie Profile Lenneth as the combat can be quite complex {and the good ending is almost impossible to unlock by accident but soooooooooo worth putting the time into getting}.

Definitely get hold of Jean d'arc.

Think it's my favourite psp game.

Thank you so much for everyone's response, it is much appreciated!!

@km2 and Qwikslver - Had a look at a Jeanne d'Arc review on Gamespot, looks fantastic, will try it out, thank you!

@MattyW - Thank you for the detailed reply guy, WOW!! Had a look at the link of Valkryrie Profile Lenneth, looks really awesome, will have to give it a try... Was not under the impression that one can play PS1 games on the PSP, that opens up a WHOLE lot of possibilities, like you mentioned!! Had a quick look on Google how to play PSX games on the PSP, looks easy enough... I think :p

I have God of War: Chains of Olympus, never tried it though, might just give it a try :) Written down all the titles you listed both PSX and PSP, will definitely try to get it!!

And there I thought the PSP scene is dead :p

ffvii was good. ive heard good things about the suikoden series. haven't played the valkyrie one.

you might want to give silent hill a try, i thought it was the best
