Hollywood's same-day DVD, Internet digital film sales

'tis good news!! At least for the rest of the world.... ignoring the facts regarding our line speed and cap, this way South Africans could get movies at the same time as international first world countries! It might even encourage our movie houses to close the gap between release dates here, and when they came out in the USA!

doesn't state whether you'll be able to watch the DVD on a DVD player.. and if it includes bonus features etc O_o
 
Cooper noted that trips to the cinema were becoming increasingly expensive for large families while home theatre systems were becoming cheaper and more sophisticated. Movielink has divided its website into two "stores," one dedicated to movie rentals and the other now allowing movie purchases for unlimited viewing for around 20 dollars.

The movies can be permanently stored on the hard drive of a computer to create a permanent archive or burned to a disc in Windows Media format for backup or playback on up to two additional tethered computers.

So what format is the movie ? WMV right.. I wouldn't pay $20 for something thats been re-incoded if the original also cost about $20 :confused:

It is stupid ... double the cost of a DVD and can't watch it on your TV.

Not to mention the fact that even if you could afford it, downloading a movie puts you squarely into the internet "abuser" category!
 
doubt we will be able to access it anyway.... probably americans only.
 
well it is a start...Not a very good or cost-effective one but at least companies are sitting up and taking a lot at the internet in a more serious light...Till cinema ticket prices and CD and DVD prices come down drastically, piracy will remain, justifiably IMO, rife.
