Best/cheapest Uncapped ISP

Ok...I'm starting to get withdrawl symptoms.

Can someone please give me some options for being uncapped. Only the cheaper options will do. I'm looking at 384kbps uncapped.
If you could please steer me in the right direction/ISP, that would be great. :)

Openweb and Nukecap both have 384k uncapped for under R1,000/mo (http://www.hellkom.co.za/ispprices.php?type=adsl&op==&cap=uc). They are IS-based tho..

I know about those, but will they allow p2p? It is what I use my ADSL for most of the time.

Well that fkcing sux. What the hell is their problem for limiting a person like that? Is it only shaped or do they actually block all P2P connections, etc.?

block all p2p connections as the router they give u scans all packets at the 7th level so no getting round it... They had to block p2p to make the solution cheaper... other wise u can go for R1500+ IS account that can do p2p.

I would suggest the following setup (I'm doing this atm):

Get yourself a local only account from OpenWeb (30GB local access + IS news server so you don't need p2p any more) AND a SAIX based account for international (e.g. WebAfrica Prepaid (pay per GB), carry over what you don't use to the next month). Use my RouteSentry proggy to automatically route all local traffic through the OpenWeb account and all other traffic through the SAIX account. Read more here:

Thanks for all the feedback guys. ant1body, I'll have a look into what you suggested. It just really bugs me that we as South Africans have to be limited like this. The SNO better provide us with cheaper uncapped solutions that allows P2P otherwise it will defeat the purpose.

They're making too much money this way.

Do these 384 uncapped solutions at least allow for http downloading?

I also agree with you that banning it because of Piracy is stupid. However I dont think I am mistaken when I say that 60%+ is all used for illegal downloading of programs/Movies/Music/etc.

Its also unfortunate that most of these people are what is effecting the use of torrents/P2P for everyone else.. and I dont think South Africa is far behind with regards to this and well its going to cause us all a lot of problems.

I see IS as blocking these functions as a way for them to protect their own interests from not only legal problems that might arise but others as well.

Its pretty much the same way in which Absinth was banned world wide from 1909 to 1915 because it became impossible to regulate what chemicals companies were putting into the drink( the wanted to get the most money the quickest way possible.. remind you of somebody), also because of the misuse of a few alcoholics who just couldn't get enough and abused the drink. Being high in Alcohol and drunk by many due to the wine shortage, the affects were worse than normal wine and many crimes where linked to its use (particularly Jean Lanfray after murdering his family).

It was banned and they just stopped its production completely. Until now when these things can be much better controlled and people understand more about alcoholism and the bans are slowly being lifted.

Unfortunately we dont seem to learn from past mistakes no matter how they are linked, and it is the rest of us who will have to suffer because of the arogance of the few alcoholics, and the stupidity of the law
