Good day

I am once again without internet the ADSL doesn't work at all now.

I am now on my 6th fault reference with Telkom. Telkom blames Cybersmart, Cybersmart blames Telkom.

I want to take action against both using the Consumer Protection Act. Where do I get started?

Hi Koosi

I definitely understand your frustration from getting the run-around and being sent from pillar to post.

Please would you pm us your details so that we may investigate your situation and escalate where necessary and appropriate.
If the fault is indeed on our side, we will get this resolved for you ASAP.
If the fault lies with Telkom, we will assist you in escalating the matter further.

Our concern is that if the fault is indeed with Telkom, then even if you do change service providers, this will not resolve the issue as only Telkom are able resolve certain faults. It's not ideal, but the current ADSL structure in South Africa means that the physical adsl circuit is still owned and managed by Telkom.

Nonetheless, we will investigate, interrogate and if need be, escalate until your current connectivity issue is resolved.

If you need to escalate an issue with Cybersmart, please do not hesitate to email [email protected]

Kind regards
Team Cybersmart

Nice service from Cybersmart there.

Umm Telkom, your reply please..........Whaaa ha ha ha!

Get a free afrihost 1GB account or go buy a 1GB Axxess voucher from engen, pick n pay etc and test with those. If the problem still persists it's a Telkom issue, if it goes away it's cybersmart.

Another alternative is to drop ADSL altogether....
And use what exactly, wireless?

Wireless in SA is a joke, and that includes iBurst, Neotel and others. I have tried them all and in the end went back to hardwired internet connections for a reason.

Very good advice this !

I don't know. The modem does not synch. None of the modems I tried synch. The ADSL port has been removed from the line, this much I know. This is the second time its been done.

We accessed the Telkom bill today, its a total cock-up, they are billing us YET AGAIN for a line that no longer exists. We moved house in September 2011 and that's when the trouble started. I think the idiots have moved the ADSL back to the old number YET AGAIN.

I have had enough now, I have given Cybersmart a cancellation notice and now tomorrow I am cancelling the landline outright. I will then apply for a new landline, in a business name, maybe then they will take me a bit more seriously. When the new landline works I will sign up with MWEB

How exactly is this a Cybersmart problem? In order for you to get service from Cybersmart it means that your ADSL router first has to sync with the DSLAM (Telkom).

Unless you have the ADSL portion through Cybersmart then this is wholly a Telkom issue.

+1 Got nothing to do with the ISP.

Telkom tell me that Cybersmart keep "installing" ADSL on the old number. Telkom also tell me its Cybersmart that keeps doing this every month, they keep moving the ADSL from one number to the next, I only ever instructed them to do that once.
The ADSL portion is with Cybersmart, its an all-in-one package, as is apparent.

You never mentioned anything of the sorts and nothing is apparent from your posts. If the ADSL portion is with Cybersmart then they must sort it out.

Have you tried contacting Laurie to escalate the matter? [email protected]

I have escalated the problem several times. Last time Laurie came onto this forum and made me out to be a liar so what use is there in speaking to him. I have, however been speaking to someone else in Cybersmart. Gave him a good piece of my mind yesterday
