ATU formally accepts the Company's revised offer today
As previously communicated, the Company had, on 29 March 2006, reinstated its final revised offer to Solidarity and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) for their acceptance or rejection by no later than close of business on 5 April 2006.
The Company hereby confirms that implementation of its final revised offer will now be effective for approximately 60% of the total employees in the bargaining unit, as of 1 April 2006. These employees comprise members of the Alliance of Telkom Unions (ATU) and non-union members.
The implementation of this offer will see employees in the bargaining unit benefiting from:
As at the time of this communication, CWU has not accepted the Company's final revised offer. In terms of the conditions communicated to CWU, should there be no agreement by close of business today, 5 April 2006, the Company will lawfully exercise its rights. This will lead to the date of implementation of the revised offer to be effected from the date of signing by CWU. There will be no backdating to 1 April 2006.
The Company awaits CWU's notification as to whether they accept or reject the Company's final revised offer.
Employees will be kept informed on any developments.

- Gainsharing (which ranges from R10 000 to R15 000 for the different categories of employees in the bargaining unit).
- Backdating of the long service awards to 1 January 2006.
- The revision to the compression of grades proposal. Employees who meet as well as exceed their performance targets will benefit by receiving an additional fixed amount to their basic salaries, provided that their annual salaries are below the specified threshold.
