Vodacom reveals plans for a Visa-backed mobile wallet

Will this make it easier to skim? Just walk near a person and you get their wallet details.
 
Update: A previous version of this article carried the headline “Vodacom planning Visa-backed mobile wallet.” Vodacom has since clarified its previous comment on the Vodafone press release, which was: “We are planning to launch this service and are busy investigating our options with the various card suppliers.” Vodacom explained it had no deal in place with Visa, that it couldn’t say how far negotiations are beyond “we hope to make a decision soon,” and that it couldn’t confirm any of the features of its planned service yet.
