i watched 90 movies at the cinema in 2011. January to December. My target was a hundred. this year i have watched only 2 ie Machine gun preacher and the first grader.

URGH! The Thought of the smell of all that stale popcorn makes me glad that the last time I went to the cinema was to see episode 3 of Star Wars.

OP makes me sad because it reminds me that I haven't seen enough movies this or last year :(
 
Having to go to a cinema 90 times would be absolute torture for me, I would prefer being shot.
 
90 movies
let's say R40 average per movie (assuming discount or some other underhanded deals)

The prices these cinemas charge are ludicrous so to me this seems like an epic waste of money, especially of you watch rubbish like big mommas house, many if the other choices were good though. Each to his own.

I would reserve that judgement towards Nu Metro esp menlyn. There's some really crap cinema halls with horrible sound that you pay 45 bucks for. A complete opposite is Ster Kinekor Brooklyn whose sound and quality of the cinemas is excellent.

Now about prices, you have to remember that during the week they screen movies for like 3 people per show. So on average they aren't super profitable places. It's not your fault the tickets are steep but it's just a consequence of having weekdays where people work.
