I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Anyway, I wonder if anyone can help me with my problem please...

The problem
1. DSTV image is zoomed in and the edges are cut-off
2. DSTV image quality is very grainy and blurry

Description
I have a dual decoder. On the one stream, the image quality is perfect and the image fits onto the screen perfectly. HOWEVER, on the second stream, the image is zoomed in such that the edges are cut-off, which is particularly annoying when it comes to news and sports because you can't see the scores or the news tickers. Also, the image quality is very grainy and blurry.

Does anyone know why my one decoder stream looks so bad while the other looks perfect?

The setup
TV = Samsung Series 5 40"
Decoder = dual decoder, standard definition

Thanks!

Are you watching the second channel via RF or RCA? If it's grainy, I would guess RF? In that case try broadcasting the RF signal on a higher or lower channel. Also, you probably need to set the aspect ratio of TV2 correctly. Have a look on Menu, Advanced (Iirc), TV installation, under Tv2. If your decoder requires a password, use 9949 as that's the default. If you change the channel on the RF signal, you'll have to rescan your TV(s) so it picks up TV2 on the correct channel.

Good luck

Thanks bees.

I tried looking for aspect ratio and similar settings on both the TV and the DSTV decoder. Nothing I changed on the TV's display options (including aspect ratio, stretching, fitting, etc.) fixed the problem.

I wasn't able to find similar settings for the DSTV decoder, but what you mention above sounds like it refers to the decoder, so I will give that a try tomorrow.

Thanks!
