Hi, I learnt recently that in the UK a company is able to claim additional tax credits/allowances for the costs of enhancing their software systems as research and development. I think it comes in the form of accelerated write offs as the cost of software is usually spread over its estimated life, which i think is usually 3 years. This includes the portion of salaries for any business analysts.
This acts as an incentive for companies to have in house software dev teams as opposed to buying it in and encourages employment and having these skills in the country.
