In summary: Smartphones guzzle data, so mobile broadband providers will make billions more in profits. Why did she need so many words to say it?
 
An increase in data traffic, subscriptions and mobile growth will mean more investment into the networks from the operators and subsequently an increase in sales for vendors such as Ericsson. Not to forget the arrival of LTE !
 
Problem is the african business model has always been the inverse of other countries where volumes are pushed(we work on a scarcity model). If they(operators) want to really push development to a new level major focus needs to be getting more users and in africa that means costs have to be down more. <-- not something they want.. but with the way tech is going and every device having sims, i.e. people having multi sims they got to look at the bigger picture and not be narrow minded.

Yeah, but this is still driven by the want and need for connectivity and data as well as the benefits this brings. But yes, this is skewed towards the operator side.
 
Emerging Economies have always been the racketeers playground. Nothing will change unless price fixing laws are enforced.
