Which online dealer is the best/most trustworthy?

For computer hardware.

I've seen people rating prophecy.co.za quite high.

If hardware are faulty under warranty ... what can be done.

I would guess this would be a question for people who have actually had hardware faults, as they can say what had to be done and/or what was done in regards to handling the situation.

as for saying who is most trustworthy: 1 person can say place A is very good in their opinion, but then a 2nd person can say the opposite of place A.

any place would be a risk, but people that have bought a lot of stuff and more so, high priced items from say 1 place, could make a more appealing argument.

I have bought from: Wootware, Prophecy, Sybaritic, Zaps and Ikonic and have had no problems from any of them. the best support on item query though was Wootware (for me)

I see something went wrong with Prophecy's site as it seemed they lost data?? so atm their items may be limited to what they had backed up, but one can always query if they have something you were/are looking for.

NIVO has been my main supplier for a number of years now, but I see wootware recommended a lot - and their prices are good.
 
I cannot recommend Kalahari.com

I had an issue with a samsung 23" monitor last month and it says they have a 3 yr warranty. Rectron who they bought it from says it has a 3 yr warranty and despite them telling me they got it from Rectron, they would not help with the warranty.

They even said I must call Rectron and get proof of the warranty and send it to them.

Total BS. I eventually ended up going tstraight to a authorised Samsung repair centre here in PE and they swapped out the monitor for a brand new one.

Kalahari is all about the sale and nothing else

I havent ever had to deal with returns with any online retailer, and I suppose that is the real test.

But otherwise, Wootware is fantastic. They always respond to emails, they will match prices if they can, and dispatch quickly.

EDIT: I also dont trust Kalahari with anything more than eBucks orders, and even then I've been burned. And when I pointed out the problems, the customer service lady (well executive more like, she was quite high up) basically said Kalahari had done nothing wrong and I must STFU. She was more polite than that, but that was the general message. My expectations of timely (ie within 24 hours) responses to emails were unreasonable. I will never spend any real money with them. Takealot is awesome though.
 
Since you're close to CT, in terms of warranty stuff its a bit quicker to deal with local retailers. So thats Landmark, Wootware and Takealot for the most part (did I miss anyone?). All 3 I've had good service with, the first two have friendly and helpful owners. Havent spoken to takealots owner since they have a more corporate setup.
 
I wish we had good physical stores like we have online stores. I love Nivo and Wootware- but sometimes i just want to walk into a store and buy something quickly. Incredible COnnection and Matrix Warehouse are terrible.
 
What about www.nom3d.com? Their prices seem low, but how trustworthy are they? Does anyone have experience with buying them?
 
I've been using RebelTech.co.za for the last couple of months and I've had a few issues with a few items I bought. Sent back some stuff I wasn't happy with and got some new stuff.
The service is awesome, Goods are delivered in a timely fashion and the guys there are very accommodating ie; Providing me with alternate banking details to make payments/process faster ; Sourcing products not listed on the site..

Also, I don't feel like I'm being ripped off when buying from them - which I find alot of the stores are doing now.

I just need some cheap hard drives :p
 
wootware, takealot and prophecy are the best.

Will never purchase an item from Rebeltech again. prices are good but aftersales support is terrible.
 
RebelTech have been excellent in my dealings with them. They even arranged swap-out with the Cape Town Rectron branch for their stock... rather than have me send it all the way to them.

I have had nothing but perfect service from RebelTech.

I would rank RebelTech 1st, then Sybaritic, then ZapsOnline for non Cape Town online retailers.
 
Just got excellent service from Cybernatic.

Nivo has been my primary source for the last 3-4 years. Nice system, site, order handling etc.

However twice they have failed me on delivery promises. Once I was told I would get a gift before Christmas, only to get the sms notification after the PO was closed. And the other time, I asked to change from delivery to pickup and only found out they had 'forgot' whilst on my way to their offices.
