Hey, this is a quick question....

If anyone keeps all their old copies of the monthly Dish, can anyone give me the name of the company that sold vinyl/record players on a full page near the beginning of the magazine? I've forgotten what their details were and they've stopped advertising. If anyone can please help me out!

Dion wired or HiFi corp sold a vinyl player that connects to PC to record as MP3

Incredible Corruption were cheaper than their sister company (HiFi Corruption) on this player.... I went and looked as my wife wanted some her old albums converted to cd/mp3. I decided against it and will rather pay double the price for a more reputable device.

Thanks for the info. I did not buy it as I also rather would want something decent. I wonder where can I get a stylus for my old turntable?

Most of your specialist music equipment shops have stock, albeit a bit pricey. I'm not referring to the big franchises but to the privately owned "hi-fi" shops....
 
Go browse some pawn shops and see what they have, on the odd occasion you can get something pretty decent but you have to know what to look out for. One guy I knew picked up a very sought after Technics turntable for cheap and had it serviced.
 
I have had a Samsung music centre with a turntable, cd player, double tape deck and obviously radio for quite a few years now and wanted to record my LP's to mp3. I had a simple cable made that went from the music centre to the pc and I cut my first cd. The sound was k@k but it worked.

What kind of program would I need to do it again?

Wayne as far as I know you can't just use a cable to go into your PC. You need something that does some signal conversion. The reason I say this is with a lot of modern amps/receivers that have no Phono input (for record players) you have to get a little converter jobby so you can connect the record player to one of the Aux inputs else the sound is heavily distorted..

I will google a bit and post here.

More modern turn tables you can connect directly to Aux input as they function at line level.

It was like earphone jack out to microphone jack in and I had a programme on my pc and it worked. As you guys know I am not rocket scientist when it comes to technology but I mess about and even though I had no idea what I was doing it worked although it sounded bad.
 
I have the Samsung SCM-6700. Trying to get a schematic diagram but the wording is too small and if I enlarge it it is blurred.
