Anyone in JHB listen to mix fm?

A couple of days ago I was flipping through the stations and came across mix fm. 93.8
has anyone listened to it yet? Dunno how long they've been around for, but I was quite impressed- i've only caught the evening drive show, but apparently Tony Blewitt is the morning presenter, so these guys seem to be putting a bit of money into it.
Anyway the music seems good and I will certainly welcome another station- im sooooo tired of listening to the same ten songs on highveld, and the ghetto-music rubbish on 5fm.

oh, and they are small enough not to bombard you with adds every 2 minutes, but I guess that will change over time lol

The good shows are pretty damn good, their bad ones ...not; f'r instance, Roxy Blows with her giggly li'l girl delivery and REALLY unsmart mic-work makes me mad enough I don't even want to be around me. So I switch. There's a late night metal show with a he/she co-presenting that I don't handle too well but that's because I can't do dedicated metal; otherwise they seem pretty decent. Oh, and they apparently need a new mixing desk to record ads; the one they have now is stuck on MONSTER echo-ho-ho-o-o-o :rolleyes: If you're in the decidedly limited radio footprint give 'em a listen, they're worth the try. (except for Roxy) :cool:

But here's something interesting: they're punting a way to get the station on your 'droid or crapberry ...are the big boys doing anything like that? ;)

You can already do that (along with most other local stations) using an app called tunein.
It will need a fairly big data plan though.
 
Im also using Tunein on my Iphone 4 its damn good but data cost is very costly as well, wishing we had uncapped data on mobile fones :D
 
The only significant difference seems to be the ability to record.
 
So, ZAR 1.88 is about an order of magnitude less than the ZAR 14.98 Nobex Radio want, and appears to be working just fine (and being able to tune in (heh) to something else when you can't deal with the idjit voices where you are now is WIN!). That said, like many, I'm definitely concerned about excessive mobile bundle usage so I've gone GSM off with Wi-Fi on to *know* I'm getting the stream through the office adsl. But now I can't use the phone, dagnabit! :cry: That said, FWIW I'm still live on Viber when in flight mode.. :)

Therefore the question: is there something out there that will let me explicitly specify that, say, TuneIn comes in over Wi-Fi? Note that this is a different approach from what I HAVE seen, which is to lock down traffic by type; which entirely fails to meet the need.

been listening for a couple of months now - it's a welcome change and lurve Tony Blewitt.
